Had to wipe my Mac hard drive and now I can't find 5+ years' worth of progress saves. They should be in the saves folder in The Sims 4 folder which I have backed up on My Passport for Mac, and they are, but I tried importing the saves in there into the new folder and realized only one of the first ever families created when first getting the game were in there. It's as if the following saves ended up somewhere else, but I don't know where. I've been through every folder and copied all the files from the backup to the computer. Anyone have Amy ideas? Pls pls pls help!

gpbfurlanetto You must make sure that all the individual save files are in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves. Saves that should load will always be in the same formatted file name: Slot_XXXXXXXX.save where the eight Xs are a mixture of numbers and sometimes letters. The files ending .ver are backups of the corresponding saves. Any save files which have appended numbers, for example Slot_XXXXXXXX.save 2, will not load. If you'd like me to check your files, open Terminal (Applications > Utilities) and copy and paste the list command below then hit Enter/Return, it will return a list of all files and folders in your saves folder. So like, the save files are on iCloud and I just c&p them? Is there a way the game can access them from iCloud so they don't take up so much space, and if not, is there a safe way to kind of sort out what's relevant from what I can just keep on iCloud?

These saves are on the Desktop in folders you have created. The game doesn't look there so they are being ignored:

/System/Volumes/Data/Users/gpbfurlanetto/Desktop/other/stuff/The Sims 4./saves/Slot_00000002.save /System/Volumes/Data/Users/gpbfurlanetto/Desktop/other/stuff/The Sims 4./saves/Slot_00000001.save

No. The game only reads your user data from the Sims 4 folder inside an Electronic Arts folder in the Documents folder:

/System/Volumes/Data/Users/gpbfurlanetto/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4

If the game cannot find a Sims 4 folder it will create a new one. And if you keep moving out that newly created Sims 4 folder it will keep creating a new one each time you launch the game. It cannot read data from iCloud.

You can get a decent external drive and play from that by creating a symlink. Or you can try and free up space on your Mac and keep the data in the Documents folder.

Gotcha. But these two files you mentioned c&p'd are a couple new ones I created after everything ws wiped out. What I'm trying to understand still is if there's a way I can transfer or copy the old ones from iCloud, which is where I understand they ended up. I tried c&ping them all into the actual computer folder, but they didn't show up on the game itself. Is there a way I can run the game still using them? If so, am I just copying the ones titled "saves/Slot_00000002.save" from iCloud or...?

Yes, you c/p them from iCloud into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves. But if you're running out of space that won't be possible.
