  • @CalicoBeings  I've moved your post to the Sims 4 Mac section.

This Mac is too old to support Metal, which means it wouldn't be able to run the standard version of Sims 4.  It would run the Legacy Edition, though, albeit on lower graphics settings.  Also, I seriously doubt it's running OS X Mojave (10.14)—the latest supported OS for that model is El Capitan (10.11).  So if someone did install Mojave on it, that means they would have needed to tweak some settings you don't normally want to mess with.

Just so you know, a decent Windows gaming laptop can cost as little as $500 U.S. even when new, if you get lucky.

@CalicoBeings If you're after a MacBook specifically, there's some really good current models on the market. I personally use one of the newest MacBook Air models, which runs The Sims 4 surprisingly beautifully. (It's also the cheapest available model). Here are some specs:
    - OS X Catalina
    - 13.3" Retina Ultra HD Display
    - 8GB RAM (Can be upgraded to 16GB RAM)
    - 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
    - Intel UHD Graphics 617
    - Upgradable storage starting from 128GB SSD
(Protip: You'll need lots of adapters to use USBs and all that stuff. It takes getting used to, but it's worth it. The battery is also really amazing.)
