I have this same issue however the mods folder for me is in a folder called "The Sims 4" there is no electronic arts folder only the one I just listed. mods are all in that folder so i'd say just look for that one.

The Sims 4 folder should be in an Electronic Arts folder, within Documents:
Macintosh HD > Users > [User account] > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > [all your game user data such as mods, saves etc]
