I'm having this problem, too. I cleared caches, uninstalled and reinstalled Origin and then the game. Still crashed. And I didn't have my mods folder even in the library since I had just reinstalled it. I didn't think it was that anyway, since I hadn't added anything since before I was last able to open the game just after the update. Even updated my own computer and turned off Origin in game settings. The initial Sims 4 blue screen pops up, but it crashes right after the loading screen starts the plumbob spinning. đ
Do you have a lastCrash file in the Sims 4 folder from when the game last crashed? If so, please open in TextEdit and copy/paste the contents into a post here.
Clearing cache on a Mac is useless, you need to run the Origin reset tool https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/

This is my most recent lastCrash file:

I am also getting a report from Apple when I launch the game, but I'm not sure if thats useful.

@BluebellfloraAlso, I did the reset Origin tool, and it didn't help. âšī¸
- 4 years ago@QuaylinSims I also tried it with no luck. :/

Thanks both, really helpful đ
@shamrockshake05 your lastCrash is still showing you have mods installed. Can you please try a new clean game by moving the Sims 4 folder to the desktop. Which Mac do you have? The GPU is unknown, is it an M1 Mac?
@QuaylinSims could you create a new user account on your Mac and see if you can play the game in that account? No need to reinstall the game, just launch Origin, login and launch the game from the Origin games library.- 4 years ago@Bluebellflora
The game does seem to work after I start clean, I would assume it's an issue with one of my mods? My problem is that once my game crashes, It continues to crash and not go past the first loading screen until I take out my whole Sims 4 folder and repair the game. I noticed that it still crashes even if I remove just the mods folder which has never happened before.
And yes, I have the Macbook Air 2020 with the M1 chip.
