Yes another full week gone by with no updates or fixes.
Pretty much 2 months of an unplayable product.
another day another pointless support chat
EA (if you are even there listening) - basic troubleshooting is not going to fix this! stop telling me to uninstall and reinstall my game cause I've tried that 10 times.
basic troubleshooting maybe would have helped before the patch but THE PATCH BROKE MY GAME GET RID OF IT OR FIX IT NOW! I DIDNT MAKE THE PATCH, MY COMPUTER DIDNT MAKE THE PATCH, YOU DID!!!! MY BLOOD IS BOILING!!!!
AND REPLY TO SIMS 4 MAC ISSUES TWEETS PLEASE, WE SEE YOU HELPING ALL THE SPORT GAME PLAYERS ON TWITTER !!!!

I have to ask though, what did you hope to learn from contacting CS when you know that EA are aware of this issue and looking into it?
And yep, another full week with no update or fix because that's not how patches have ever been applied to TS4.
I get the frustration, been there many times over the years, but ranting here and continually bumping this thread won't help. - 6 years ago
To be honest with you that’s is not okay anymore. I hope someone could at least try to calm me down instead of saying the same things over and over again. Is your sims game working? I think it’s very easy to say that when you have a playable game. I don’t want to hear they are looking into things I want to know that I will have a fix soon. I’m going to continue being vocal even if I have to write on here every day because this should of been fixed already. So don’t tell me that’s not how patches work. Glitches and bugs are understandable a broken game is not. I understand it’s a video game but it’s a video game I paid for that’s still not working on a computer that’s beyond its requirements. So don’t belittle our problem , that’s why we are still here, it’s not being taken serious
- Bluebellflora6 years agoHero+@WillFoShizzle
Of course it's not ok, I'm not saying it is. But there are others with problems too, others who are posting and want help getting back into their game.
It is exactly how patches work. We get them monthly normally with exceptions being when something is introduced into a patch that breaks the game, like this. But maybe they don't yet know the exact cause of this? Maybe a fix isn't actually very easy to implement? Maybe it's not actually a fix EA can implement, it's down to an Apple update? I don't actually know any of this, I'm comparing it to similar issues over the years. Sometimes EA could fix it and it took months, and sometimes they couldn't and we had to wait for an OS update with a new driver to fix it.
Why don't you think it's being taken seriously? - 6 years ago
Because my game has been completely unplayable for too long now. If they can’t give a complete fix they should give a temporary fix TODAY. This is not a small problem this is a game completely not working and no updates at all. “We’re looking into this” is not okay. And why can’t EA try to explain that to us instead of us speculating? Have they even tried to look into it since September when people originally had the issue? This is the last week of October coming up and we still only have “we’re looking into this” Totally unacceptable.

Then they need to roll back my game before The oct patch. Is the plan to put out another patch before snowy escape to break it more? I already know I’m not gonna be able to play snowy escape. I would agree with you if this was the first week of October but this is way too long now. Every passing day makes it worse.

The Feedback forum would be a good place to suggest the option to be able to roll back to a previous patch - https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Feedback/bd-p/the-sims-4-game-information-en - Bluebellflora6 years agoHero+
Ok, can as many of you as possible please do this:
Open Terminal and copy and paste the following command then hit Return/Enter:
kextstat | grep -E -i "(amd|intel|graph)" | awk '{printf "%-50s%-20s\n",$6,$7}'Please then copy and paste the results here. This is confirming the driver versions of your AMD GPUs.
Just a reminder that EA are aware of this so all info you can add will help 🙂
It should look something like this
com.apple.driver.AppleIntelLpssI2C (3.0.60) com.apple.driver.AppleIntelLpssDmac (3.0.60) com.apple.driver.AppleIntelLpssI2CController (3.0.60) com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily (530.68) com.apple.driver.AppleIntelPCHPMC (2.0.1) com.apple.AppleGraphicsDeviceControl (3.50.15) com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCFLGraphicsFramebuffer (12.1.0) com.apple.kext.AMDSupport (2.1.1) com.apple.driver.AppleIntelLpssUARTCommon (3.0.60) com.apple.driver.AppleIntelLpssUARTv1 (3.0.60) com.apple.driver.AppleIntelSlowAdaptiveClocking (4.0.0) com.apple.kext.AMD9500Controller (2.1.1) com.apple.driver.AppleIntelKBLGraphics (12.1.0) com.apple.driver.AppleGraphicsControl (3.50.15) com.apple.driver.AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy (3.50.15) com.apple.kext.AMDRadeonX4000HWServices (2.1.1) com.apple.kext.AMDRadeonX4000 (2.1.1) com.apple.kext.AMDRadeonX4400HWLibs (1.0) com.apple.kext.AMDFramebuffer (2.1.1)

There’s been cases of fully unplayable games for months at a time for a large group of players? Interesting because I’ve never experienced such an issue.
Bugs and glitches yes, but not a completely unplayable product.
People are validly frustrated and more people should be expressing their issues to EA so they put pressure on people to actually fix it.
if I bought a car and it wasn’t working for 2 months, would that be acceptable? The least EA could do is allow us a way to roll back to the prior version of the game.
You are obviously more patient than some of us are, and that’s fine, but nothing will get fixed if we just sit around and do nothing.Just my two cents!

Just did. Will try in awhile and report back.

Same here @aftksims
how many patches have we gotten before? How many patches have we gotten before that’s made more glitches than fixed glitches?.
We know what patches are, we are aware sims is known for bugs and glitches but a complete unworkable game is just ridiculous and to think that because we were told a month ago they were looking into it, that makes it’s okay? What are they looking at?!?! still nothing has been said beyond that!I’ll get that other information and post it on here when I get home but with all due respect, I should not still be sitting here looking into why my professional computer can’t play a game that has beyond its requirements.
- Bluebellflora6 years agoHero+@WillFoShizzle
Which OS are you running? @aftksims is running Big Sur which isn't supported anyway as it is in beta.
You don't have to provide the specs if it's that much of a hardship for you. I just know that this info should be hugely helpful to QA. - 6 years ago
@Bluebellflora macOS Catalina

What happens if you select the lowest possible resolution in game options? Have you changed the default UI settings at all? - 6 years ago
Here is the information from Terminal:

The crashing happened on both versions, even on the lowest graphics settings (with and without laptop mode on).
Currently on Big Sur, I went to low everything AND laptop mode, and it still crashes. I've toyed with being on low medium, medium and high as well - same freezing every time but currently with LOW and LAPTOP MODE, it's still freezing up. The only difference now is I can toggle back to my desktop to force quit versus a manual shutdown. This was a bit of a win, lol.
Edit - added code tags for readability and took out machine name, Bluebellflora

Super thanks. When you say you lowered everything I understand that is the graphics settings but have you played around with resolutions?
For example in mine the lowest would be 1,600 x 1,200. Have you tested the equivalent to see if it still locks up the game? And then tested that lowest setting in fullscreen versus windowed mode.
I tried windowed mode and it was actually more unstable.
My resolution is currently set to 2560x1440 (first option available for me). I did play around with other resolutions last week but the display looks horrible so I never played on them for very long.
- Bluebellflora6 years agoHero+@aftksims
Ok. I understand it looked horrible but could you play for a while and see if the issue happens? - 6 years ago
Yes, but it's already on the lowest available setting, does that matter?
- Bluebellflora6 years agoHero+@aftksims
You said "the display looks horrible so I never played on them for very long." was this on lower resolutions? You can put it in windowed mode and drag the size of the game window by grabbing the corner. Make it small and check the resolution is low again. If there is a lower setting then choose that one. - 6 years ago
Sorry, just want to make sure I am doing this correctly, I am currently on the lowest setting of 2560x1440. I have higher resolution options and when toying with things last week tried them out but the settings were horrible so I've been back down to the default/lowest setting.
Also when I did windowed mode it almost immediately locked up.
- Bluebellflora6 years agoHero+@aftksims
Do you think you can screenshot the graphics options window in windowed mode? So open up the options window then switch to windowed mode and immediately take a screenshot., You can toggle into and out of windowed mode using CMD, CTRL and F. - 6 years ago
Ok see attached - just wanted to include everything.
- Bluebellflora6 years agoHero+@aftksims
Really great thanks 🙂 Whatever the settings, the game is still locking up but only the game, no longer the whole system?
