Game audio doesn't work on airpods

My game audio does not come through on my airpods. Works just fine through the computer speakers and will start playing when I disconnect my airpods. I have even deleted all my configurations manually and nothing has changed. I have never tried with wired headphones, but I don't own any. Really frustrated because I cannot play with audio in shared spaces.

Edit: hard uninstalled then reinstalled and still doesn't work
