Hello! I did this, and the problem still exists. The info on my Mac:
13 in mid 2012
processor - 2.5 ghz intel core i5
memory 8gb 1600 mhz ddr3
stsrtup disk - macintosh hd
graphics intel hd graphics 400 1536 MB
I’ve never had issues playing sims on my computer before, this recently just started happening last week.

Have you considered updating Mojave to the latest version, 10.14.6? I think you're experiencing this https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/-Sims-4-crashing-freezing-Intel-HD-4000/td-p/8486475

And if the latest version of Mojave, 10.14.6, doesn't fix it, try changing graphics settings in game and see if any changes there make the issue go away.
