Bottom screen controls not appearing.

None of the controls at the bottom of the screen appear when I try to play a Sim; then when I try to  exit and press the Manage Worlds button, the entire screen goes black. I tried repairing the game and uninstalling and reinstalling the EA app, but it keeps happening. I do not use mods at all, so I know that that is not the cause.
