Game has glitchy lines across the whole screen

Some users are reporting glitched lines across their entire game screen when playing since updating to the 1.58/November/Discover University patch. The screen looks like this:

(thanks to lilyinsimland for posting the image)

If you are experiencing this it would be really helpful to please post the specs of your Mac. Click on the Apple in the top menu bar then About This Mac and post the following information in this thread:

All of that information is really important, not just some of it. Don't post your serial number!

One possible workaround is to change the game from fullscreen to windowed mode. Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner of your game then Game Options > Graphics and change the Display Type from Fullscreen to Windowed. If you want your game to fill the screen, double click on the grey title bar (where it says The Sims 4 at the top of the game window).

Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

Tried to upload a picture but it wouldn’t let me lol

  • Hi! Sorry, I haven't technically been able to resolve this. But I'm on a laptop and I changed it from full screen to windowed and that seemed to solve the issue for some reason. Maybe my laptop can't handle the graphics or something? I'm unsure. I tried removing the mods and I still saw the visual glitch. Nothing else is affected however, even when the glitch was happening the game was still functional.

I just updated my sims 4 and this started happening when I opened my game. I have not played in months and I am desperate.

I have had a lot of problems with the sims before like the game crashing and not opening, but never this. This lines move and change. They appear on every screen - loading, menu, CAS and gameplay. When I say I have tried everything I can think of, I mean it... I have updated and removed mods, repaired my game, restarted my mac, restarted my sims but I don't know what else I can do.

    Please help meeeeeeeeee!

That used to be an issue but was fixed at some point. I've merged your thread into this one. See the opening post on page 1 and apply the workaround to toggle fullscreen/windowed mode. If you could also post your full specs. that would be really helpful 🙂

Thank you sol much for adding me to this thread. It really helped! I put my game to windowed and it fixed. I also change the edge smoothing to low and now have it on fullscreen. It seems to be working so far! I attached my macs full specs anyway.
