4GB? That's very low. Do you have many packs installed?
I doubt uninstalling/reinstalling will do anything but you should definitely try the clean folder. Start a new save and play for a bit.

It doesn't matter that you've been playing for years. Your Mac is getting older and the game will struggle on older machines as you add new content and patches are added which introduce new features. These new features will stress older machines. That's why the Legacy Edition was introduced for 2011 and earlier models. - strohsky4 years agoNot applicable
I have an 8-Core 2.4 GHz Intel Core i9 with 32GB RAM and an AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB --- my game is also freezing and crashing OFTEN.
I do have several packs installed, so I'm not sure if that's what's causing the issue.

I have run into this same problem, ever since we got that "sims delivery" update the game will get the rainbow wheel and crash.
I have all packs with no mods.
I also noticed that playing offline stops the game from crashing completely but still runs super slow with a crazy lag.
The game was running fine until the last update.
