For some reason, the new patch made my game really glitchy. Won't even start up, when it does itll get stuck on the loading screen, and if i get into actual game play everything is just low-res and its making me sad. Any help would be appreciated, or I will just wait until they fix it, because my game was running smoothly before this patch yesterday.

Or maybe it might have been the Origin app, because it had an update too

Please can you provide more information about your Mac. Instructions on how to do so and what to provide here - http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612396/highlight/true#M162
- 6 years ago@Bluebellflora I am trying to download the Legacy Edition to see if that is the problem, because EA stopped supporting non-Metal mac systems. Here are my mac details:
- MacOS High Sierra v. 10.13.6
- 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5 processor
- Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB graphics

Hi,
Been reading through this thread looking to see if anyone is having the same issue as me but it appears not. My mac is updated to the latest Catalina version and whenever I've tried to play the sims 4 the bottom of the screen glitches (no freezing or issues getting onto game play) but there are glitches all over my screen. I have removed all mods, and updated both origin and the sims 4. I have also made sure to grant access to my documents and advised within this thread however no matter what I do my game is still glitching, hoping someone may have an idea of how to stop this so I can get back to my regular game play.
Thanks!
- 6 years ago@thomassd1 Try disabling "Edge Smoothing" in the game. Please let us know if this works for you, and if it has any side effects.
Are you on a Macbook Air from ~2012-2015? If you go to Apple Menu -> About this Mac does it say you're using an Intel 6000 GPU?

I've edited the title to better reflect the issue showing in the screenshots in this thread. It should help others with the same issue find it as I've merged a couple more posts here 🙂 - 6 years ago
Ever since the newest update, the UI on my screen has gone completely glitchy. CAS is fine but it’s really ruining my gameplay as the constant glitches are hurting my eyes. I figured out how to stop the glitching by turning edge smoothing to low or off, but this makes the graphics extremely poor and I’m unable to enjoy the game. I have a MacBook Pro, 64 bit so I don’t need legacy, and I have laptop mode on. I’ve seen on twitter that a lot of other players are having this same issue but was wondering if anyone on here would be able to advise me on how to fix my game. The glitching happens with and without CC and I have repaired my game. I’ve included a photo to show what the glitching looks like.

Currently the workaround found is to turn edge-smoothing off or down to low, or play in windowed mode.

I have the exact same issue!
I have a 2015 MacBook Air, 8GB RAM, about 20GB free storage space, 1.6GHz dual core intel core i5 processor and intel HD graphics 6000.
Before this update my game always ran super smooth. There is no overheating or anything. I’ve tried repairing the game and took out all my mods. I play in laptop mode with most settings on medium or high. This has never been a problem before, so I don’t think lowering the settings should be necessary. (I’m going to check if it helps though, I really want to play uni today)
CAS works fine but the loading screens take a ridiculous amount of time (about 4 - 6 times the time it took before) and the UI glitches constantly. It’s only in the bottom of the screen while in build or live mode but when I open settings or any other menu the glitching lines appear there, too. When I shrink the UI, the lines shrink with it. When I enlarge the UI, more lines appear and they reach higher.
This makes me think it has something to do with the UI scaling update.
I have a video file of the glitching lines but it won’t let me post it on the forums. I did tweet it to SimguruGraham though.

Hi,
Had the same issue with the glitchy lines on my mac. Try game options-> graphics -> and then click on the vertical sync box and apply changes. I still have some glitchy lines when the game options window is open but it seems that they disappeared from the game play.
Hope it helps 🙂

Product: The Sims 4
Platform: MacBook Air, Catalina
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Holiday Celebration,Vampires, Cats and Dogs, Get Famous. Realm of Magic, and Seasons
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I wish I could tell you
What happens when the bug occurs? When I play a sim, the panel starts glitching and flashing white lines across it(glitching) and it only happens in the sim panel the rest of the screen is fine and sometimes voices sound like when audio is playing from a wet device
What do you expect to see? For my screen to not freak out.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Nope.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Downloaded the latest update for the game- 6 years ago@minjoonenrose Can you try disabling Edge Smoothing in the game options? Some players have reported that this is a viable workaround, though in a few cases it has also made the actual Sim part of the game drop to a lower resolution.

I’m a Mac user and a mod/cc user in the Sims4. My game updated with the newest patch on Nov. 12th. When I opened my game my latest save was crazy glitchy. It was blinking and the screen was shifting and jumping and in the upper right corner would flash this rainbow prism that would get randomly get bigger and smaller. I took out all my mods and cc and opened a new save and the glitching would still continue, but a lot less severely. Even with my game running without mods or cc, and even after repairing the game and restoring it to factory settings and setting my game options to the lowest graphics quality, my games screen is still glitching and doing really weird things with the UI after running it for a little while.
I’m playing on a MacBook Pro OS Sierra Version 10.12.6 (13 inch, mid 2012). A 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 Processor. 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory. Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB
I don’t know what to do next in hopes of getting my game back to normal. Please help!!
