Hi all — I have been plagued by this issue for quite awhile and as it’s still ongoing, I figured I’d provide a bit of a workaround or two that I’ve found is working for me in hopes it may work for someone else:
I deleted my entire Sims 4 folder in Documents (after relocating saves, tray, mods to move back in later) and launched the game, rebuilding the folder.
I saved a copy of the new Resource.cfg file to my desktop, then moved the saves, tray, and mods back in.
After all that — my usual procedure is launching the game, loading my save by Load Game, not Resume. I then pick a lot to load in build/buy, before going back to manage worlds and then into live mode.
Additionally, I’ve replaced the resource.cfg file with the copy from the clean install prior to every new launch. I’m unsure if every one of these steps is required, but it’s kept the issue from reappearing for me so far.
I don’t know enough to know if it’s possible this issue resides in the resource.cfg file, but it seems possible at least with the tinkering I’ve done — no number of attempts of repairing the game, removing all CC, replacing cube maps seemed to resolve it as consistently as this method has. I do have far too much CC to go through everything though, and 50/50 methods haven’t helped me isolate it down to any particular bit of CC.
Thanks to everyone here for all the time looking into this — it really is quite a bother.
