Hard drive- the sims 4

Hi, using your instructions I created a symlink and moved my entire sims 4 game to my "unionsine 500GB" external hard drive. It was working for a day but I did not know that I had to change the game path for installs/saves in origin and now the sims 4 wont start up. The symlink I created still shows the little black arrow on my computer for my electronic arts but now its no longer a folder but a white piece of paper, and I no longer see the black arrow on my electronic arts folder on my hard drive. I recently updated my mac to MacOS Monterey 12.6.3, I have also tried to repair the game in origin, and my installs/saves location is now /volumes/Sims4HD/origingames. I am currently trying to reinstall sims on my hard drive, does origin have to be installed on my hard drive too or can it remain on my desktop? Also should I recreate another symlink? or will this damage my computer more? I will take any advice you can give if you know how to fix this thank you

The game path in Origin > Installs & Saves is for the base game and Packs installation. It is completely unrelated to the Sims 4 folder that contains your saves and other folders and user data. Creating the symlink is irrelevant to the game installation and Origin.

Origin does not have to be installed on the external drive.

    Have you reversed the symlink?

    How is your computer damaged?
