How to fix game not being in a state to save

Okay so l've had this ongoing issue for months. I gave up trying to fix it around May/June because my MacBook broke and i only got it back yesterday on halloween and they repaired the screen which was great but i tried to load up sims4 and nothing was loading but that was due to old mods and cc needing updated and removed. So after doing all that i needed to do to remove old/broken cc and mods i realised i can't save game play again, shocker. Ive put my mods and cc in the mods folder one by one and taken them out whilst loading the game up to try find which cc or mod was causing this but nothing flagged. I delete the mods folder and opened sims4 so it would create a new mods folder and then after that i opened up sims4 tried to save and it worked but then i put some of my mods back in and it was able to save so then i tried putting them all in and it reverted back to not being able to save. Ive now deleted the mods folder again and opened up sims so it could create a new mods folder, then i went into the game tried to save and even without any mods it could not save. So what I'm wondering is if anyone else has had this issue and has fixed it or can help me fix this issue

I have modsmanager and curse forge that keeps my mods and cc up to date.

I also seen someone say that sometimes anti virus ware can affect game play and block the game from saving but i have norton on my laptop and have for many years so you would think if that was the issue it would of already been happening since i got norton.

Any help is very much appreciated <3|

Hey! Thankyou so much for those instructions. It was super helpful and well laid out instructions it almost took me an hour to try all the steps. However after all of that my game still cannot save ☹️ I done all the steps correctly and even when i loaded it up with a new sims4 folder it still wouldn't save.

  • I’ve been having this problem since yesterday. It started because I couldn’t see some of the pictures, specially on the relationship panel and my sim mood state. I removed all my mods, cleaned cache, repaired my game. I even created a new Sims 4 folder, but the problem hasn’t gone away.

Then it gets stuck on the saving screen so it doesn’t let me save my game, this is occurring with all my saves.

I really don’t know what to do at this point, I would really appreciate your help. 🙁

After the game created the new Sims 4 folder, did you create a new game, play and then try to save? What was the result?

Great 🙂 But the only step to try was to rename or move your existing Sims 4 folder so a new one is created when you launch the game. That shouldn't have taken more than a couple of minutes. Can you try that again but this time do not move your saves into the new folder. Rename the folder again, launch the game, start a new game, move a sim onto a lot then try to save.
