Lagging and stuttering game performance when using screens in-game

Happens instantly. I can't visit other sims houses because the moment they turn the tv on my frame rate drops to around 30 or even 20. I read that other Mac users were having this issue, so maybe it's specific to Mac? Not sure what's causing it. I do not play with mods or CC. I've reinstalled the game almost 3 times to see if it messed up during the installation somehow. Same thing every time.

& For reference, I am playing on a MacBook Air M4 16GB laptop.

Not sure how to edit the post but I also forgot to include this has been going on for a while, and did not only start after the two most recent updates.

Could you please provide links to where you have seen other Mac users reporting lag issues when using the TV and computer? Would be very helpful to read them.

I play on the M4 mac mini, however since installing the tiny patch yesterday and disabling a few packs with the pack selector, my game has been feeling noticeably slower. I've tried repairing the game and deleting cache files, nothing seems to work.

Can you try a whole new Sims 4 folder, not just removing some cache files, and see if that makes improves performance? Instructions - [INSTRUCTIONS] How to troubleshoot and test a broken game | EA Forums - 11864548  If it does how is performance affected when you add your saves back in?

I followed the steps and it did not noticeably improve performance. I still experience lag and slowness that shouldn't be there on such a new machine.

Maybe you have something running in the background using a lot of resources? Have you checked CPU and memory usage in Activity Monitor?

I have not checked the activity monitor however I only play with my browser open in the background, which only has a few tabs open. Should I try playing with absolutely nothing open in the background?

Yes, close all other apps. Some browsers generally use a ridiculous amount of memory and the web pages you have open can also have an affect on system performance. What about stuff running in the background? Anything significant will often have an icon in the top right corner of the menu bar. 

I closed all apps and tried again. Sadly, the problem still persists. More specifically, the camera stutters a lot and also feels slower to move around, especially when hosting parties or when speeding the game up. However, the game still loads really really fast for me, which seems really strange considering the other issues. Another observation I've made is that my computer doesn't heat up as much as it used to when playing the game, however I also haven't been playing for long sessions as I did before, so take this with a grain of salt.
