[MAC] My Sims 4 isn't working!!

I own the sims on my macbook pro and I have been playing it since the release date with no problems at all. Now whenever I try to open it up it loads for a second and then shuts down unexpectedly. I re downloaded origin and the sims game itself, but it still will not open. Please help!!

  • I have the same problem as you, but I have done my research. I got all my cc (custom content) from my mods folder and put it into a random file on my desktop. I then checked for an update and repaired the game; I was then able to open my game without any problems except all the cc wasn't in the game anymore. Once I had done this I then dragged some cc back into the mods folder then checked for an update/repaired game to see if it was any of that cc. I would then repeat this until I found the cc that was making the game crash/disabling the game to open.

this worked for me but may not work depending on the problem...

  • @ahoughton13 see whether all the required ports are open: http://help.ea.com/en/article/connection-issues-with-origin/

-ensure that your Firewall and/or Antivirus are not blocking the connection. The easiest way would be adding an exception for the Origin Client,
You need to do this> add firewall/antivirus exceptions for Origin and open the needed ports http://help.ea.com/en/article/connection-issues-with-origin/#1

-and make sure your internet connection is not running through a proxy.

Go to Internet Options in Control Panel > check the connections tab and make sure the proxy server is not checked. Check the internet settings again and you should be fine

First step... updating your Origin client...to the latest Beta version /top left Origin menu, Application Settings - General..
The second step... restart Origin and make sure you are the administrator, run the setup file Origin with Admin rights, click HERE to fiind how.
Restart Origin and see if the game works 😕mileywink:

Constantly updating drivers is a good way to Mess'up the whole system. ""Don't f with it if it ain't broken!""

My Opinion is no more important or right than yours.- Ask, and it shall be given you

  • Try restarting your computer if you haven't done so lately. Have you added any CC or mods lately? That may be causing your game to load properly.

Actually you gave the correct solution. Always remove all the Mods when updating your game and then check the original sites that you got them from and see if they have been updated to support the latest version. Turn off Auto update in Origin and once you have confirmed that your mods and sometimes CC have been updated to support the latest version, go ahead and update.

Depending on your computer, some CC does not work well on the Mac side.
