I tried Sims 3 and although I did receive a dialog stating that my video card was not recognized, I was able to start gameplay into Sims 3. I didn't do too much, as I have gotten much used to Sims 4.
I had restored the new Mac from my previous Macbook so I didn't need to install anything - could this be an issue? When I first launched Origin it required an update and before starting Sims 4, that also required an update. The first time I tried loading Sims 4 I received a dialog stating that Sims 4 was not optimized... that dialog is no longer coming up. Initially the main game options menu worked, but now it comes up blank. My previous saved game are available under load game and the World menu will come up w/all of my current Sims households, but when I press the Arrow to play, nothing happens. It will only stay on the world menu. If I go to exit, it will crash. Nothing happens when I press on new game. The odd thing is, I clicked on the Arrow itself and although I still was not able to start from the household, I was able to use the destination feature and select my household and the game loaded. I can play, however, the menu to save and exit, etc... doesn't seem to respond. Most of the tabs do not work. I clicked save and exit and it appeared to save, but after that it "unexpectedly quit".
Here are my mac specs:
iMac (Retina 5k, 27-inch 2017)
3.58 GHz Intel Core i5 Processor
8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 (Planning on increasing to 16 GB)
Radeon Pro 580 8192 MB Graphics Card
Anyone else having similar issues? Any suggestions on troubleshooting? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
- 7 years agoMy game is working now. I had my settings to ultra and that seemed to be a problem. I had hit reset to default and then restarted my iMac. Setting to High works fine. I did have to move out some of my 2016 CC. Cheers!

Hello!
I seem to also be having this problem. Whenever I open Sims 4 on my mac, it still loads. If i wait long enough the icon stops bouncing and says application not responding. Not even a black screen. I've tried the solutions in this thread but none have worked. It was working 2 days ago. It told me TS4 was not compatible with my computer. I turned it on again, this time without CC, still did not work. I thought it might have been because I didn't do a system update for a while because I had been avoiding it. I updated my system and now it won't work at all. I even tried all of the things mentioned here in this thread. I don't know what to do ;-; but ever since Mac has been putting out all these updates my game is always having one or another problem and it's getting frustrating with how much money i've put into this. Here are my info on my mac
Operating System: MacOS Mojave 10.14.2
Processor: 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB
Thank you for any help!

Please disable Origin in-game then try again.

Hi, I have the exact same issue as OP, since the upgrade to Mojave 10.14.2, my game won't work where it worked perfectly fine before. Now the icon just bounces on my deck and that's it. At this point I tried pretty much every solution on threads I saw on here. I have uninstalled than reinstalled Origin, repaired the game, unchecked origin in game, tried without my old sims 4 file and more. It just won't work. I'm sending this message because I have to wait before downgrading Mojave to High Sierra (the only solution I see at this point), but I'd like to try and find an answer before doing so...
