Which beta build are you running? I'm running the pre-GM one and the game is loading fine.

I first tried on the pre-GM build (the one that came out a few days ago, I believe. I got the error, then updated to the GM build to see if it helped. I might try to create another admin user and try there to see if it's consistent, but otherwise I'll do the reinstall. It definitely seems to be something specific to my system.
Edit: I guess it's not just me. That makes me feel a little better, tbh.
- 7 years agoI have the same, new error (already running) on my GM beta. it showed up before I updated to the GM-edition, though. it’s a bummer, was looking forward to be able to play again for the first time in months.

Would be great to know if a new user account fixed it for you. My install is really clean, no iCloud sign in, no 3rd party apps installed or processes running apart from Origin and the game, one administrator account.- 7 years ago@Bluebellflora I've just spent a bit of time poking this. What I found is that my Sims folder has a "UserData.lock" file in it that, for some reason, causes this problem. To get passed it on my machine I deleted the lock file from "~/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/".
Try using Finder to go to your Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 4 folder and rename/delete/move UserData.log, then try relaunching. If you prefer the command line then open Terminal and try:
rm -rf "~/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/UserData.lock"
Then try to launch the game again.- 7 years ago@dzm06 Thank you! That worked for me as well. Deleting it and relaunching the game recreates that file (so it's not lost), but resolves whatever issue there was that seemed to be corrupting it as well.
