Messed with tray files and now my Sims only opens the Legacy Edition - MAC

I was downloading some mods because I usually never have issues with them. I put some lots in my tray folder and tried to start my game and it didn't work. So I took out the stuff I had just put in and it just opens the Legacy edition. I've removed the new mods I've downloaded, but nothing has changed. I've tried repairing the game multiple times but it won't work. I thought it might be something to do with a virus detected that I have on my computer but the program hadn't done anything. Not entirely sure what to do now.
