@Bluebellflora Hi, I have 60GB of storage left so I wouldn't think that internal storage would be the issue? I'm starting to think that there is an issue with my laptop rather than the game itself. I was thinking about upgrading my laptop in the upcoming months, do you think that it would make a difference? Many thanks!!!!!!

- @Bluebellflora Hi, so so sorry for the late reply I've been busy and fixing The Sims wasn't my number 1 priority!!! I tried adding a new user account on my mac and seeing if it would work but it didn't ☹️ . Thanks for the advice anyways. Do you think this could be an issue with my computer and if I need a new one or are they're another other solutions I could try? Thank you!!!!
Could you open Terminal and copy/paste the following command then hit enter/return. Do this in your usual user account:
find ~ -type d -name "*saves*" 2>/dev/null
It will take a little while. When it's done please copy/paste the results here.

You have a Sims 4 saves folder on your Desktop and one in iCloud. Put the one on the desktop in your Documents > EA folder where the game can read it. The file path should be:
Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4
If that doesn't contain the saves you're looking for then we'll look in the other folder in the cloud. - @Bluebellflora I put the saves back into the EA folder in documents, there already was one which contained scratch and scratch_9088.

You can trash the scratch folders. They appear when you load the game and then automatically disappear when you close it but if the game crashes they aren't automatically removed. - @Bluebellflora Okay, I've deleted them now. Thank you lots for your help so far! Is there anything else I can do now?

If your saves are in /Users/sasha/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/saves the they should load, are they? - @Bluebellflora I tried to open the game and the application still isn't responding, I still only have the same files as in the first post in the sims 4 folder. I opened the saves file and it was empty.

I'm confused. Which saves folder is empty? The one in the Sims 4 folder on your desktop? Or the one in the Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder? - @Bluebellflora both.
Ok, let's check the iCloud folder that also showed up in the Terminal search.
In Finder click on Go then Go to folder... in the menu bar. Copy and paste this in the dialogue box then click Go:
~/Library/Mobile Documents
In that folder you should be able to follow this file path to your Sims 4 folder that was stored in the cloud:
com~apple~CloudDocs/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/saves

- @Bluebellflora I don't mind loosing my saves files, I just want to find the missing files i.e cache, screenshots

If they aren't in the Sims 4 folder you're looking in then you've probably lost them, unless you do regular backups? @BluebellfloraHi, my brother came to my house yesterday and had a look at my sims 4 files. He is a frequent gamer but usually specialises in Forza or World of Warcraft. He messed around with my computer and managed to get the sims to work!!! He wasn't to sure what had happened and assumed that it was some sort of glitch in the system. But at least its working!!!! I lost all of my saves and CC but I tend to upload a lot of my builds to the gallery so at least they're on there!!! Thanks a bunch for your help, you're a life-saver and really good help!!
