I have it on a lap desk. Yes I tried moving out the Sims 4 folder to desktop. Looks like when I restarted it, all of my old saves were gone. The game froze before I could even do anything.

None of your saves and other content will load because it is all in the Sims 4 folder you moved (the link I provided explains this and why you've tried it).
Did your game just freeze or did your Mac logout again after doing this?
Try creating a new user account on your Mac and see if you can successfully play in that account.

Same thing happened. I made a new apple account on my mac and was able to play for a bit. It froze a few times but after waiting it out it resumed. Then it ended up quitting on me. Didn’t log me out but the game shut down.

Could you look in the Sims 4 folder in that new account and see if there is a lastCrash.txt file in there. If there is, please copy and paste the contents here, taking out the XML in the first line.
