Is this the first time you tried to play since you installed your game? If so, it might be an issue with the installation, or a corrupted file. Did you install your game through Origin or using DVDs?

I recently got a MacBook Pro from my dad he has upgraded the memory a lot
this is what it said in about my Mac
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3and now whenever I press the play button. it says insert disk. I have inserted the disk.
please help
and yes I have played sims before
and there is no expansion packs

The issue on your previous Mac was not enough memory. 2Gb RAM really wasn't enough.
The no disc error you are now experiencing is caused by the incompatibility of the game running in El Capitan or Sierra. You need to install the game through Origin.
