New iMac Not running Sims 4

Hello all!

I just got a new iMac yesterday and one of the first things I did was download the sims onto it. After downloading everything and the game window pops up and does the "the Sims" animation but thats it. As soon as I hear the music I get the rainbow wheel of death. It says the game isn't responding and I have to force quit. The game also doesn't go full screen, it stay the small screen when this is happening if that makes a difference. How do I get it to work on my new computer? I have a MacBook that I play on but I want to enjoy the bigger screen. Thanks in advance!

Has it ever launched on the iMac? The game is full screen by default and should flick to a new desktop when launched for the first time.

Is your iMac a brand new current model or is it a refurbished/second hand machine?

I mean, I have been playing the sims 4 on my MacBook Pro for the last three years with no problems and played in on my exes older iMac when it first came out, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't work on my new iMac. It is refurbished through amazon but its a 2021 24" iMac with the M1 chip.

Which version of macOS are you running? Did you purchase through a trusted seller on Amazon? Do you know if the Mac has had a full diagnostic run to check hardware?
