Newest Sims Delivery caused my saves to disappear/delete

What happens when the bug occurs? My saves were lost
What do you expect to see? Hopefully get my saves back but at least know how to prevent this in the future.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.

Please describe the patch or change you made. I installed the most recent Sims delivery Express package
I opened my sims game and got the notification that I had a new delivery ready. Before I started up a save (I had three but were only really active in two), I went ahead and downloaded and installed the delivery. After it was installed, all of my saves were gone, as well as the few things I had saved in my gallery. I checked the folder on my hard drive for my saves and it was completely empty and not in the trash folder either.
Is there any way to get my saves back or prevent this from happening in the future? I've only had sims 4 for about a month so my saves had not progressed very far. I just don't want to start over again to just lose it all.
