Sorry for the confusion, from what you are describing, it could be your browser cache didn't update so you were still seeing the images of the sale on the website, even if the sale was over. ☹️
I understand this is not a pleasant thing to discover once you start the checkout process, so let's try to avoid this from happening in the future - do you remember the sales page? If you scroll down, you will usually find the date in which the sale ends there. We also try to keep this thread updated with current sales and the date in which they will end:
