Re: 🛠️ Creating a symlink in macOS to store the Sims 4 folder on an external drive

I apologize if this issue has been addressed already, I have seen threads with parts of it, but I don't know how to exactly fix it.

So I have successfully made a symlink for Sims 4, because I keep it on an external hard drive. I have a Mac book, and not a lot of storage space. I am able to play the game consistently. However, I really would like to use custom content. I download the cc onto my hard drive, no issues there. However, when I put the cc in my mods folder under electronic arts on my external drive, it gives me the same error message:

"Cannot start because the below file appears to be corrupted. If this file is a Mod please remove it and try again. If not, please repair or reinstall the game via Origin."

I have tried repairing, updating the game and my laptop, but it still gives me the error. If I remove the cc from mods I can play again. I tried to start over with the sym link because I thought if I put my cc in the mods folder before creating the sym link, it could transfer. The problem is I don't have nearly enough space on my computer for both the game and the cc. If there is any way to get the cc into my game, without saving it on my computer's hard drive please let me know! Or please let me know if there is not and I am just gonna have to do without cc for now. Thank you in advance!!

In whichever guide you used, did you skip the step to make sure your external drive is correctly formatted? See the opening post in this thread I have merged your post into, specifically the bit about formatting the drive and the error message when using CC/Mods if it is the wrong format.

Also, I forgot to mention, I tried it with many different cc's one at a time, to see if a specific one was actually corrupted. Whatever I put in my cc folder gives me the same error message, even if I know that file is not corrupted.
