Re: [135dec40:90f690cf:00000075:495f32a0] Updated patch, now can't open game!

@MaxisJoe Additionally, can anyone that has applied the update release yesterday (April 14) and is still seeing this error run these commands for me (note that this will NOT work if you have installed The Sims 4 into a non-default location):

  1. Open the Terminal program (it is in your Utilities folder inside your Applications folder)
  2. Type this (be sure to hit the Return key at the end of each line; it will be the easiest for you if you copy/paste each line, one at a time, into the Terminal program):
    cd ~/Applications/
find The\ Sims\ 4.app/ -name "*.zsh"
  3. Copy all the text you get as a result and paste it in a response here

    No result comes when I type this on Terminal. Please see picture attached (maybe I did something wrong ?!)

    @isabelacfi Ooops! I made a typo in the command. Sorry! Please do the same thing but include the trailing double-quote:

    find The\ Sims\ 4.app/ -name "*.zsh"

    Results:

    The Sims 4.app//Contents/__Installer/customcomponent/moveDLC/moveDLC.zsh

    @isabelacfi Well that's good news. Now please also run this command and show me the results (copy/paste the command just like you did above):

    grep _ ~/Library/Application\ Support/Origin/Installer\ Data/*plist

    @MaxisJoe before doing it - is it ok that my sims 4 folder is on the desktop (Mai proposed it in post before as option to try fix this problem) ? or is it irrelevant ?

    I moved the folders back to the original location before doing the command lines.

    @greyhusky95 and @isabelacfi, thank you both for checking these things.

    Can both of you also look in that Installer Data folder folder for a file called sims4_setLocale.log.

    @isabelacfi can you please verify that The Sims 4's language is also set to Portuguese in the Origin client (go to My Library, right-click on The Sims 4, select Properties, select the Advanced tab).

    @greyhusky95 Please also verify that The Sims 4's language is set to Italian?

    @didyoucrydidyou The paths in those commands are very specific. If you've moved things around then the paths will be wrong and the commands will not work.

    @isabelacfi Can you also run this command very quickly?

    ls ~/Library/Application\ Support/Origin/Installer\ Data/

    @MaxisJoe thank you too for helping us. Yes, The Sims 4's language is set to italian. I can't find any file called sims4_setLocale.log ☹️
    Also I run your last command and this is the result:
    "ls ~/Library/Application\ Support/Origin/Installer\ Data/
    1011164.plist"

    @greyhusky95 Thank you for checking that for me.

    Can you just double check that there is no log file in there at all? Try this command to open that folder in the Finder:

    open ~/Library/Application\ Support/Origin/Installer\ Data/

    A Finder window will open that shows the contents of that folder.

    Please also run this command:

    which zsh

    Just like our friend, I cant find this file either. I tried to check every folder and its just not anywhere.

    Also, the language is correctly set to Brazilian portuguese on origin as well. I also tried (yesterday) to change origin and game languages to english and then repair the game, with no luck.

    When running the command, this is the result:

    Isabela$ ~/Library/Application\ Support/Origin/Installer\ Data/
-bash: /Users/admin/Library/Application Support/Origin/Installer Data/: is a directory

    @greyhusky95 @didyoucrydidyou and everyone else:

    If moving The Sims 4 folder following the steps from my message earlier didn't help please move it back to Documents > Electronic Arts. It was a test that obviously didn't help. Thanks for trying and letting us know!

    @isabelacfi Thanks for that. I think when you ran the command you left off the first part, the "ls":

    ls ~/Library/Application\ Support/Origin/Installer\ Data/

    Please also do:

    which zsh

    and

    open ~/Library/Application\ Support/Origin/Installer\ Data/

    to open a Finder window that will let you easily confirm the contents of that folder.

    @greyhusky95 Here's a thing to try (this is all one single line):

    cp ~/Library/Application\ Support/Origin/Installer\ Data/1011164.plist ~/Library/Application\ Support/Origin/Installer\ Data/Sims4_Locale.plist

    Please do this and let me know if The Sims 4 launches for you.

    @EA_MaiAfter this test, I repaired the game from Origin and it creates a new The Sims 4 folder identical to the previous one. maybe I did something wrong? ☹️ 


    @MaxisJoeI try both your commands, these are the results.

    I find the .plist file as you can see, thank you.

    @greyhusky95 - that's normal as the game creates a new one when it tries to launch. 🙂 Nothing wrong. This new folder shouldn't contain any of your files and it's safe to delete and replace with the one you moved to your desktop.

    Just be careful not to delete the one you moved before please - I don't want you to lose any of your Sims!
