Hi all. I have had the case where I go to play Sims 4 and all data is lost so I have lost the families I have made and my progress I have made. This has happened about 3 times In last 6 months or so. Once, it was due to a power cut and I was playing the game. However, the other 2 times, I have quit and saved before and I still lost my stuff.
Can anyone help?
@TheSims201000 Does your computer run Windows or macOS? Do you have your system set up to sync Documents with cloud storage (OneDrive or iCloud)? If so, your user data may be uploaded and removed from your hard drive. The way to address that depends on what operating system your computer runs.

@TheSims201000 I've moved your thread to the Mac section. I'm guessing your Sims 4 user folder was uploaded to iCloud Drive and removed from your hard drive. You can look in iCloud's Documents folder for an Electronic Arts folder with a Sims 4 folder inside; your saves and other content should be there.
You can also look for previous versions of your iCloud Drive contents on your hard drive. Open a Finder window, click Macintosh HD (or whatever you've renamed your hard disk), then Users > your username, and you may see one or more folders labeled iCloud Drive (Archive). Check those for Sims 4 content as well; you may find older versions of your saves if the new ones aren't showing up anywhere.
If you don't see Macintosh HD in the Finder window, click Finder in the upper left corner of your screen, then Preferences > Sidebar, and check the box next to hard disks.
To prevent this problem in the future, it's best to prevent iCloud from automatically syncing the contents of Documents. You can still sync files manually; the problem is iCloud doing it for you.

Hi,
I have followed the link you sent me and I have now turned off the iCloud documents thing which may have been impacting on my game play. I will keep an eye on things and see how it goes.
Many thanks
