Saves disappeared after mac update

Basically, I haven't played the sims 4 in a few months, but I recently updated my MacBook Pro and when I opened the game it was like it was brand new, all of my packs were there, but no save files or anything. I did some research and turned off the documents and desktop iCloud sync along with optimize mac storage. After that, it still didn't work, but when I went into my saves folder I saw it was full with all my saves, but when I loaded the game nothing was different. From there I tried removing my saves folder from the game altogether and created a new game and saved it in hopes it would create a new saves folder that I could transfer my old saves into. While I was able to create a new game and save it without the saves folder in the sims 4 folder there was no new saves folder and it functioned perfectly fine without. A while I had made a copy of my saves folder in case something like this happened, but when I put it in my game nothing changes it only shows me the new save I made after everything happened. I have tried everything I can think to do and read a bunch of posts, but none of their solutions seem to work for me. I really don't know anything about computers or what I'm doing, so anyone who has any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you so much.
