Sim4 does not launch "update" required

Sim4 on Mac (Mojave) after updating to  latest origin version will not launch because the button update is still active. When clicked, the response is "your game is up to date" but the play button does not come on.

Tried:

ResetOrigin

Trash and delete "download Cache" folder.

Any pointers?

You may get an error after doing it the first time.  If so, run the Origin reset tool, restart your computer, and try again.  Sometimes it takes a couple tries to get the repair to run, but it should run.

If you have the same issue, try putting Origin in offline mode.  You might be able to play that way for now.  Then when the next update comes, whenever that happens to be, perhaps the update will go through.

The only other option I can think of is uninstalling and reinstalling the entire game.  That might be easier if you have fast internet, or it might be worth the effort if you like using the Gallery, but it would be annoying for a lot of people, so playing offline could be a temporary solution.

If you do uninstall, be sure to back up the Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts first.  This folder contains your saves, saved households and builds, mods and custom content, etc.  It shouldn't get deleted when you uninstall, but that does happen sometimes.

  • @AntaresM  Try repairing the game first: open your Origin game library, right-click (or hold down crtl and click) on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  Run the Origin reset tool before and after, and restart your computer afterwards as well.

If that doesn't help, do a clean uninstall of Origin, restart your computer, and reinstall it, then try to repair and update.

  • Sims 3 doesn't launch after that same update I click on play on the launcher and it just crashes back to origin. I had tried an online solution to stop it from minimizing. Worked fine yesterday now it just crashes I sent a error report this morning I hope Origin fixes this issue soon so we can all play our Sims in peace.

Thank you - I have tried both repairing and uninstalling and reinstalling Origin, but still no success :[
