sims 3 unknown error occured

I have the physical copy of the sims 3 i put it in my mac and waited for it to install it installed and when i went to open it i got

"unknown error occured"

no launcher no anything I havent even added on any expansions to the computer yet just sims 3 and it wont do anything, When i open the sims folder its empty.

my mac is

MacBook Pro (15inch, early 2011)

Processor 2.3 GHz Intel core i7

Memory 8 GB 1333 MHZ DDR3

Startup Disk Macintosh HD

Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

How do i fix this problem when the disk itself says mac on it .....

i just want to be able to play an add my expansion packs which i have the hardcopies of also

please help

Are you by any chance running El Capitan or Sierra? The Sims 3 really doesn't play well in those versions of macOS.

Which Expansion and Stuff Packs do you have installed?

Currently no expansions because i cant even fet it to play just plain sims 3 i am running captain or aeirra cant remeber but those were a part of updates. Does this mean i cant play my sims at all ..?

Possibly but we can try something else. Have you applied the correct patch for the digital version of the game?

I did the correct patch and my game still says unknown error occurred

Ok. As the game is not actually supported in El Capitan or Sierra there is no guarantee it will work. You could try properly uninstalling and then reinstalling again but honestly, I think your version of macOS is the issue.

When you referred to Sims 1 expansion packs in your previous post was that a completely separate issue?

Okay well i guess i cant play. And yes the sims one stuff i cant use anymore? Because i uninstalled and the codes are no longer available

The Sims 1 will not play on any Mac running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or later. Your only option would be to Boot Camp your Mac and play the PC version in Windows ☹️
