Ah you have one of the fanless MacBooks. It’s most probably getting far too hot due to the strains the game is putting on the hardware. Over time the parts degrade but this can happen much more quickly if using this model for something as intense as running the game as it has no fan to cool itself down. Instead the operating system throttles power to prevent overheating. This would account for the freezing and crashing. The dual core Intel chip is very underpowered and not designed for any form of gaming.
Why do you think the saves are a problem if you started with a new clean folder? The idea is that none of your user content such as saves etc is loaded. The game should be like new. Did you move your saves into the new folder and try to play those rather than a new clean save?
Yeah, I usually have a fan i use under it anyways, and it has helped. If the parts are damaged like you're saying, it's weird is now it's like overfrying quickly when I just got it repaired versus over the last 2-3 years I've had this laptop. To be clear, I don't mean that I think the saves are the issue, moreso I meant I don't think they should be corrupted. What also doesn't make sense to me is that this freezing and crashing is just starting after I just got my laptop repaired and they should've inspected the parts inside for damage and replaced those as well, and that in the last few weeks I've had periods where this wasn't an issue. Truly this issue started after I exited the household I was playing and tried to start a new scenario.

Apple don’t replace small parts, they replace the whole logic board. What exactly did the report say was replaced? What was wrong with it? Apple always list exactly what parts were replaced.
If the parts have degraded it’s not unusual it should suddenly start happening. Hardware has to start breaking at some point, maybe your Mac has reached that point. It could be that your saves are the problem as you’ve added more to worlds, lots etc. and which is why you need to try a clean game folder and new clean save - 3 years ago
I can't find the report but I'm starting to think it's not an issue with the computer, because when I played the game in a different save file the freezing wasn't happening. I was able to play the gameplay of the other save files, but when I returned to the one I'd been playing I was able to access CAS and manage the worlds, but once gameplay began I made it through maybe 15 seconds before my game froze again. My last few saves of that particular save file were all in the last 24 hours, after the problem occurred. I'm afraid that save file is corrupted. Is there any way to save it?

Can you upload your save file to a file sharing site and DM me the link? I can download and test it 🙂 - 3 years ago
@Bluebellflora so sorry about the late reply! I just DM'd you and asked a question, and will probably be able to send it tomorrow night! Thank you <3

Finally managed to test the save - sorry for the delay!
It crashed for me too. I wondered if it might be related to the Alien Stole My Parents scenario so I tested the following:
- Moved the family to a different lot, an empty one, it crashed
- Switched to a different sim, it crashed
- Edited the household so only the young child and Mum were in it. This forced the scenario to end, it crashed
You could try other edits to the family and see if you can fix it but I think the save may be borked ☹️

ahhh noooooo
thank you for trying those methods! I'll try doing a few edits but if all else fails, I'll save all the played households for that save file to my library and drop them in a new save file. thank you again for the info <3
