Sims 4 data keeps erasing

How accessible is the current experience? Annoying, but OK
Summarize what in the product is difficult to use. Things keep erasing without warning.
How is this making it more difficult? I keep having to rebuild
How can we reproduce this experience? Make it easy to retrieve lost data and make data loss less frequent.
I've had consistent issues with my sims game erasing all of its data with no warning. It's happened 2 or 3 times before after a crash but today it happened with no crash. I simply went onto my system to see all of my buildings and households gone. I've tried the trick with the "electronic arts" file to no avail. If anything, it just ends up making the game slower. This is the 4th time I've had this issue and I'd like to figure out why it's happening and what I can do to prevent it. I'm able to load some (but not all) households back from my online saves but this only ever includes the base settings- all skills, relationships, jobs, etc are erased. Buildings have proven impossible to retrieve.
It is not possible to save Sims 4 to the cloud using the cloud storage option in Origin. The game will only read data from the Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts.
If you have iCloud Drive enabled then your Mac will be storing the contents of your Documents folder in iCloud. Consequently every time you load the game it will regenerate a new Sims 4 folder with no saves, tray folder etc. You must disable iCloud Drive.
What do you mean by your 'online saves'? Do you mean your iCloud Drive or another method of online storage?
