Sims 4 Freezing in CAS

My game updated the other day after not playing it for a few months. I went on to create a new family, but everytime I got about 3-5 minutes into create-a-sim, the screen would freeze and I would lose my cursor. 

I initially thought it would be a mod related issue, so I removed all my mods and tried again, but the same issue keeps happening. 

I have tried playing other previously saved games and they all work normal, but again if I try to edit them in create a sim, it’ll freeze. 

I have tried everything - clearing the cache, updating and repairing the game, moving the Sims 4 folder onto my desktop. Nothing seems to be working and I want to try avoiding uninstalling the game if possible. 

Any help would be appreciated! 

Notes - I am playing on Mac through Origin
