I also have this issue - my Mac is a MacBook Pro from 2022 with 13" and Apple M2 Chip. The macOS version is Sonoma 14.4.1.

Have you tried a clean folder as described here? - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612394#M163
Make sure you enable vsync after moving/renaming the Sims 4 folder and first launch the game.

Yes, I did this - oddly, the "letting the game create a new folder" worked. You just have to love this stuff ...
Thank you so much!
- 2 years ago@kuriermaedchen Just a note on the side - It only works, if I don't put back my save files and the tray folder.

Moving or renaming the Sims 4 folder is the number one troubleshooting step you should always try. If the game works it indicates a problem with the user data and discounts a problem with the game installation.
You have a problem with one or more saves and items in the Tray folder which you need to now narrow down. Move the saves out of the saves folder then test them one by one by moving them back in and launching the game to see if they load.
