sims 4 legacy on macbook

I recently got a used computer specifically for playing the sims 4 because i don't have enough space on my regular laptop. I just installed origin and the sims 4 on my new one and it won't let me play it, keeps telling me I need to install legacy on it, but I already had installed from my last computer but it keeps giving me the same message. "Unable to start due to missing game data. Please download The Sims 4 Legacy Edition from Origin." I've tried updating the game, repairing the game, deleted the game cache from my files, restarted my computer, and still every time I try to play the game it gives me that message. The laptop I'm trying to play on is a macbook pro version 10.11.6 and the processor is an intel core 2 duo.
