Sims 4 live mode bar missing, sims are still moving around, can't save my game

Just experienced the most annoying bug. I was in build mode and built a house for over 3 hours. After exiting the live mode is working and my sims are moving around, but there's no bottom bar and no actions available. The only buttons I can push are the walls button and the current lot center, not possible to save or enter build mode.
I noticed that I went back and forth three times to the gallery and then suddenly it didn’t let me anymore. I continued to build for another 2 hours. I guess that was the first red flag.
