Sims 4 making brand new MacBook Pro overheat!
I'm having a problem. So about a month ago I bought a new MacBook Pro 13" with touch bar, it's 8gb Ram and it has a Quad core 2.3ghz i5 processor. Other than basic daily use the main reason I upgraded from my 11yr old MacBook was to play sims because I really enjoy using it to create house designs. Here's the problem, every time I open sims 4 (through Origins) my MacBook overheats and the fan goes nuts. I thought it was a problem with the laptop so i had it replaced with a new one but this one is now doing the same. When I open activity manager it says that Sims 4 is using around 200% of the CPU.
I know it says the minimum processor is a duel 2.4ghz but I thought a quad core 2.3ghz is better (I really don't know, I'm not THAT tech savvy).
What's going wrong here? My MacBook literally gets to the point where I can't touch it because of the heat. It gets so hot and the fan goes so fast I worry that the computer will just break itself.
My old 2008 Macbook is a 2ghz duo core with 2gb of ram and I can play sims 4 on that without it over heating but it just lags a lot.
I'm honestly so upset about this especially since I spent $3,000 on a computer that I can't even use to have some fun as well as work. Please if anyone can offer a solution I'd be so grateful.
Note: I do not have any expansion packs, I'm only using the base game and my laptop has around 300gb free on the hard drive. I have tried closing all apps except for sims and still have the same problem. Thank you.
Make sure it's elevated so air can circulate underneath. You could maybe get some kind of cooling pad too for it to sit on. If the fans didn't ramp up your MBP would overheat so it's a good thing 🙂
I play for hours on my 2012 15" MBP. The noise of the fans does get annoying and the temperature hovers between 80-90°, sometimes higher when I'm on community lots with lots of Sims.
