Does it still happen with none of your current user data in the new Sims 4 folder?
no error message. even after taking the sims 4 folder out containing my data, it still wont open.

What access does EA App AND Sims 4 have in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files & Folders and System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access?
