I did start a new mods folder when I restarted the game. It was one of those experiences where I just experimented with random fixes and probably restarted my game 25 times to test. The only issue I have now is that my tray and saved lots seem to have vanished. I'm okay with it, I had a lot of lots taking up space. I am still having issues with the gallery, but that's a separate issue for a separate thread.
I appreciate your assistance, and my tone in my original post wasn't meant to be directed at you or others that help out on the forums, I was just venting my frustrations. I'm sure you get a lot of not-so-nice comments and replies on here ☹️

Your tray and save files will be in the Sims 4 folder you moved. You could copy them over and hopefully it will keep working.
