Sims Get Sent Home From Work

Any time I follow a sim to work or high school, any sims already at work/high school are sent home immediately, even if there is more time left in their day. This is making it impossible for my Sims to earn enough money or do well in school. I have tried redownloading my packs and repairing the game in EA, but nothing has helped yet. Any ideas?
