sims keeps freezing Mac book pro

So I just got sims 4 on my very new Mac book pro, I've never played origin games on this Mac before but have played sims on previous Macs in the past. anyway I bought and downloaded it and I can't get past creating my people because it freezes. the music is still going and the volume still works on my Mac but the whole screen is just frozen and the only way to get out of it is by powering off my laptop, I've uninstalled and reinstalled both sims and origin but every time about 10 minutes into playing my screen freezes.
