Sims unplayable for me! lags/ crashes after a few minutes, pls help :<

Redownloaded the sims last week and everything seemed to work fine. im on a macbook air so got the latest version of the ea app and downloaded all my packs. it ran fine for the first day or so but then the next day it began to lag and crash any time i tried to save. this took me a while to notice the first time since i was in build mode but every time i reopen the game it will load in, allow me to play regularly for about 5 mins and then lag horribly and crash anytime i try to save/ travel/ change screens. it just gets stuck on the saving or loading screen and i have to force quit the application. sometimes i would launch the game and before i could even get to my save file it would say the packs i own and downloaded arent there so i tried troubleshooting by doing the following:

  • cleared EA app cache and repaired game
  • moved around the pathways for game folders as recommended by some other posts on here
  • uninstalled the game and all my packs, then redownloaded with the ea app
  • restarted + checked my mac for updates
  • uninstalled the EA app, tried all of the above again, no change.

I dont have any mods or cc either, so not sure what could be causing this. Is it possible this is from the recent update, and i just need to wait for some bug to be fixed? feeling so frustrated that i cant access my game after hours of troubleshooting at this point ugh...

any help or ideas appreciated!

There is no bug here that needs to be fixed although this "moved around the pathways for game folders as recommended by some other posts on here" sounds ominous. Moving any files and folders around that are not in the location EA App or the game looks to load data is going to result in DLC and/or user data not loading. Your base game AND Sims 4 packs folder ghouls be int he same location and this location should be reflected in EA App > Settings > Download.

For the freezing issue, have you enabled vsync in the in-game settings?
