I was having the exact problem and I deleted MCCC and it seems to be working so far.

If you have MCCC, delete it completely from your device. Mine didn't do anything when I removed my mods folder to elsewhere on my device but fixed itself immediately when I binned the MCCC files.

Yep, have also since just completely deleted MCCC based on a thread I found of similar issues a year ago and its now fixed. Not sure why it didn't help to take the Mods folder out of the game and only worked when I deleted MCCC off my laptop entirely but at least there's a solution.

I had the same issue on PC and it ended up being a problem with MCC. I had to turn the percentages for weddings through MCC to 0 and I haven’t had a problem since. 

I am having this problem on Mac (Pro, OS version 13.1) too. Time gets stuck but the Sims in my household are still completing their animations. I can't interact with them, even to switch Sim or interact outside of the household (to go to the gallery for example). I get around 2 hours of in game time until this happens every time I open the game. Coming off the back of having another issue (https://forums.ea.com/discussions/ea-app-technical-issues-en/sims-4-game-crash-and-subsequent-failure-to-launch/13168400/) which fixed via a restart of the EA app.

If a completely clean folder with a new save and none of your usual game data loaded into the game doesn't fix it maybe there is an issue with your Mac. Which model do you have? And version of macOS - Apple > About This Mac.

has anyone found a solution for this? i am experiencing the same since yesterday. i have also tried to remove mods and CC :(

I tried that and it still is not working. I'm not sure what to do now.
