Stuck on cancelling or verifying game filed

I haven't been able to play sims 4 because my storage was full meaning it couldn't update so I got rid of any files I didn't need and now I have room to update but whenever I open origin it immediately goes to updating itself but instead it's stuck on verifying game files and doesn't go up or down, it just stays on 0 even if I leave it for days it'll stay like that. I've tried cancelling it but it just does the same thing where it doesn't cancel or make any progress to cancel. I've uninstalled origin more than once and it still happens and I can't uninstall sims because it won't allow me to. 

Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem??
