The sims 4 creating new electronic arts folder when opened

I have run into an issue in where whenever I were to open the sims 4 on my mac, it would create a new electronic arts folder and run on that. Through creating this new folder I do not have access to any of my save files or my mods.

I am not a “techy” person and have tried everything I can think of including repairing the game and uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Through reinstalling the game I have found a new issue as to where the install became corrupted and wouldn’t open. A repair did not resolve this so I figured I would attempt to uninstall and reinstall again, however I am unable to uninstall it now. Clicking the uninstall option through origin does absolutely nothing.

I feel like i’m at a dead end now and I have no idea what else to do at this point. Any feedback or help would be greatly appreciated. My current system is a Macbook Air 2020. I have never had an issue with it up until now.

When you moved the game to your Documents folder you may have corrupted it. Not only that, if you had iCloud pushing the contents of your Documents folder to the cloud this would have included the game which is a lot of data for your Mac to keep syncing, hence the corruption.

Origin cannot uninstall a game it cannot find it and if you didn't change the Game Location in Origin > Installs & Saves it won't know where the game is. It can probably see some files in the install location but not all and not what it is expecting which is why your installation is broken.

Trash the base game and Sims 4 Packs folder, manually uninstall Origin https://bluebellflora.com/how-to-uninstall-origin-on-a-mac/ then redownload Origin and then the game. If you don't want the game installed in your user Applications folder, which is the default location, you need to change the installation location BEFORE downloading it so make sure you have automatic updates unchecked when you login to Origin.

Hi, I have checked my storage and icloud settings as suggested. My mac still has over 100gb of disc space. I did. notice however that my documents were being pushed into the cloud. I have corrected this issue and disabled cloud backup for documents and downloads as the post suggested.

When trying to uninstall the game absolutely nothing happens. I have tried multiple times through origin to uninstall but nothing changes and the game remains. I have tried just repairing the game from this point but after the repair, when going to open the game I get an error message stating that something isn’t installed correctly and to repair or reinstall the game (neither of these solutions are doable at the moment).

When reinstalling the game this last time round I moved it to install in the documents folder itself (probably a bad move on my behalf but I didn’t know what else to do). When it reinstalled I noticed that all of the game files didn’t actually install properly hence leading me to just deleting them off my computer manually.

At this point i’m stuck and i’m not sure how to uninstall the game properly to get it up and running again. Thanks for your first reply too!
