Took mods out of my mod file but they still show up in the game

I've removed all my mods from my mods file, but they still show up in the game. This has never happened before, but it has since happened since the new update. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but the mods keep reappearing, and it's making the game crash. How do I stop this from happening? Also, I don't care if I lose all my saves or anything; I just want to play the game. I'm using a Mac, if that helps.

You haven't removed them from the correct Mods folder or iCloud syncing is interfering. What is the exact file path of the Mods folder you're moving files out of? The EXACT full file path please - click on the Mods folder once to select it then go to File > Get Info in the Apple menu bar. At the top of the window you will see the file path in full.
