I’ve honestly never used that button but my game is already on the sims 3 camera ?
Do you have secondary click enabled in System Settings > Trackpad > Point & Click?
What Trackpad gesture are you trying to use to move the game camera around in-game? I always use the keyboard arrows but it also works using two fingers and dragging around the Trackpad. The cursor changes to the little icon with the video camera and arrows.

Yes I do have it enabled.
the trackpad gesture I’m trying to use to move the game camera around in-game is moving my cursor over an area then clicking and dragging. I’ve always used this gesture as my way of moving around and I’m not accustomed to the keypad and it is also much less accessible for me.

Sorry, I'm trying to understand how you do this. If I move the cursor around with one finger it simply moves it around on screen, as expected. If I click and drag wherever my cursor is nothing happens, as I would expect and has always been the case for me. If I click anywhere in the game window using two fingers the cursor changes to the video camera and I can drag it around. But that is using two fingers, not one. I have the TS3 camera enabled.
You use Mods, have you tested in a completely clean Sims 4 folder? Whatever gestures you are using, please test in a clean folder in a new save as described here - [INSTRUCTIONS] How to troubleshoot and test a broken game | EA Forums - 11864548
