why is "save" and "save as" greyed out?

After the update in January, I load Sims and it works but the option to save is not available. I moved the old EA folder to my desktop so it could generate a new folder at startup (which it did) but it still won't let me save. I also turned off Google Drive sync just in case (even though that folder is not being synced anyway).

What's going on?

@Bluebellflora Silly me - it looks like i have to finish making a person and start a household in order to save; i was surprised to learn that i can't save my work on a person until i start a house/pick a lot. Looks like its working fine. I did try the "repair" thing though just in case.

@vishmili If you hover over the grayed-out Save button, does it give you any information about why you can't save? Do you use OneDrive, and if so, does it help to disable it?

Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@puzzlezaddict Hi! I don't use OneDrive and when i hover it doesn't say anything. It does say when I hover over a different field that "this isn't available in this mode" but i'm not certain how to figure out what "mode" that is......

@vishmili I've moved your thread to the Sims 4 Mac section, where you'll get Mac-specific help. Running a dxdiag is Windows-only, so don't worry about that.
