Add on

Hi,

My kid wants to play Sims 4 too.

But I just wanted to install the base game, without any packs etc.

But everytime I install the base game, the add ons are automatically downloaded too. Through the EA app/launcher I can't uninstall them.

Can someone please tell me how I get rid of them? Or get them to not install when I only gave permission for the base game to install?

Thank you!

Great idea!! Do you know if she can take her created families from her account, to mine? It's all local on the same PC, if that helps!

@IrisRexx  User data, including saves and saved household and builds, can be transferred between accounts or computers, and even between Windows and macOS.  So yes, your daughter will be able to keep her saves, in theory.  However, if these saves have been played with your packs installed, the saves may not be usable with only the base game present.

To keep things separate, I would suggest either creating a new user account on your computer, which your daughter signs into when she wants to play; or at the very least, keeping two "The Sims 4" folders in Documents > Electronic Arts.  If you rename the existing one, the game will create a new one the next time it opens.  You can then rename this second one and change the first folder's name back to "The Sims 4" when you want to switch.  Two Windows accounts makes this simpler, since each account has its own Documents folder, but maybe that's not feasible for your setup.

Finally, If you open Sims 4 using an account that only owns the base game, the EA App may remove the packs you own, forcing you to reinstall them once you're back in the account that owns them.  If this is a problem for you, let me know; there are a couple of workarounds that may help.
